From Glory to Glory Greetings to you and welcome to the last full week in this month of August 2016. Going further in this very informative series, let us examine the various identities of the Holy Spirit in the Scriptures. In the Bible, the Holy Spirit is called different names viz: The Comforter, The Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of Truth, The Spirit of Holiness, The Spirit of Grace, The Spirit of Life, The Spirit of Glory…just to mention a few. These names simply describe certain attributes, functions and qualities of the Holy Spirit and although the names are different, they are all accorded to the same person – The Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:4 “Now God gives us many kinds of special abilities, but it is the same Holy Spirit who is the source of them all.” – TLB
For instance, in John 14:16, we see Jesus introduce Him to His disciples as the Comforter. That name was very appropriate at the moment because they needed comfort after they learned that Jesus was going to leave them soon. In like manner, the Holy Spirit manifests Himself to believers in various dimensions based on the individual need – per time.
He manifests as the Spirit of Power, the Spirit of Faith, the Spirit of Knowledge, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of servanthood, the Spirit of guidance, the Spirit of Love, the Spirit of vision, the Spirit of boldness, the Spirit of meekness, the Spirit of obedience; to mention but a few.
The Holy Spirit is able to meet all our needs, based on the numerous attributes He has, as evident in His names. In other words, there is no need of yours that He cannot meet, no question in your heart that He lacks an answer, and in absolute terms, there is no challenge that has no solution to. All you need to do is to understand the dimension of the Holy Spirit to engage and call on His Name. When you call Him, He will answer.
God BLESS you
