We are nearing the finish-line of our 21-day prayer and fasting and I am persuaded that you have been having a nice ride on this spiritual journey. Personally, I have been refreshed and renewed day after day and I want to believe that the same is your daily experience too. However, I know there is someone who is at this moment wondering “Why do I have to pray and fast?”
In my Christian journey, I have heard many people come up with arguments that negate fasting based on the present day dispensation of GRACE and the finished work of Jesus Christ at the cross of Calvary. Besides people from these school of thought, I am aware that there are lots of other views regarding the practice of prayer and fasting.
Without wasting any energy to argue an obvious truth, I want to emphatically say that even in this present age, the Christian practice of Prayer and Fasting is too relevant to be ignored. This is more so because Prayer and Fasting is a medium of renewing the spirit man according to Isaiah 40:31:
31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” [Isaiah 40:31 ► KJV]
Again, Fasting does not change God (He is unchangeable). As a commission, we engage in the annual 21-day prayer and fasting in order to prepare ourselves for what God has ordained for us each year and Jesus Christ had said, “no man puts new wine into old bottles but new wine must be put into new bottles;… ” (Luke 5: 37 & 38)
This last week is everybody’s week and offers us great opportunities to not just align ourselves with God’s will, but also enrich our spirit-man. If you are not yet in the race, It is better late than never so you have the opportunity to get on-board now.
For all who are in this race, and are actively engaging with God, be BLESSED and remain empowered.
God BLESS you!
