Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ and welcome to Week 3 of the month of May 2017. As we continue exploring the subject of FAITH, our focus this week will be on the “proof” of Faith, which is Obedience.

Genesis 12 has a remarkable story of Abram, who later became Abraham. The bible records that this icon of faith proved his faith in God by obeying every single instruction he received from God.
▶ In Genesis 17:11, he was instructed to leave Haran to an unknown destination at the age of 75.
▶ In Genesis 17: 24, he received instructions to circumcise himself at the age of 99; and
▶ In Genesis 22:2, he received further instructions to sacrifice the promised son he had waited for twenty-five years for.
These were “tough” instructions but Abraham obeyed every one of these instructions to the letter because he believed God as evident in the scriptures below:

17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.”
  Hebrews 11:17-19 – (KJV)

Dr. David Oyedepo provides a very brilliant and insightful analysis on the lifestyle of faith in his book, “The Unlimited Power of Faith”.  In it, he opines that,
“Faith is not just believing God; faith is obeying God to prove that we believe Him so as to commit Him to make good His promise.”.

This insight simply means that our confessions alone do not prove that we have faith. Instead, it is our obedience to divine instructions that validates the presence of faith in our hearts.

It’s my prayer that we will always delight in obeying His instructions as a proof of our faith in Him.

God BLESS you.
