New Dawn greetings to you in the Name of our LORD and saviour, Jesus Christ and welcome to Week 3 of the year and Week 2 of the on-going 21-day prayer and fasting. This week, I want to point out the importance of faith as we engage with God in prayer and fasting. Without a doubt, a lot of requests are being made unto God in this season, in the form of prayers and we all anticipate receiving answers. This is why I consider it important to mention that it is the Faith content of our prayers that counts, not our much speaking or duration.
6 “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.”.” [James 1:6-7 ► KJV]
Matthew 9 has an account of two blind men who desired a restoration of their sight from Jesus. As I studied that account last week, I noticed desperation by both men as they followed Jesus over a distance, pleading for mercy. However, despite their loud cries and acts of desperation, Jesus’ first response to them was to ask them if they believed He could heal them (vs 28).
That question clearly shows that it is possible to be fervent in prayer and not have faith
so it would be wrong to assume that everyone who prays and fast do so in faith. Thankfully, both men had faith that secured answers to their petitions
This is a clear demonstration of the importance of Faith.
As we continue in this spiritual exercise, I pray that God will grant you supernatural strength as you engage with Him this week and I beseech you to pray faith-filled prayers for guaranteed answers.
God BLESS you!
