Week of May 18, 2015
Heaven on Earth Greetings to you and welcome to another great week.
It’s been an interesting series on the wrong use of the tongue, thereby creating awareness of things to avoid so we could become better Christians.
In the previous weeks, we’ve seen the negative influences of The hasty tongue and The self-belittling tongue. We will proceed this week as we examine the subject: The Gossiping Tongue.
Prov 16:28 “Gossip is no good! It causes hard feelings and comes between friends.” CEV
In many of Paul’s writings to churches, he discouraged gossip because of its negative effect on both the bearer of the gossip and the hearer.
The best way to avoid this act is to catch yourself before you indulge. Ask yourself, “why do I want to be a bearer of such news?” On the other hand you can stop being the hearer by asking yourself, “Am I willing to use the temple of God as a trash receptacle by being a receiver of gossips?”
Many Christians do not initiate gossips but they accommodate it; one way to avoid involvement in such, is to set goals for each day and be disciplined and focused because those who have daily goals are less likely to waste time discussing the affairs of others.
More importantly, when your tongue and ears are not used as instruments to tear others down, then you will be able to say like David, “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O LORD.”
God BLESS you
