Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ and welcome to the last week of March 2018.
In concluding this series on the subject of Vision (Divine Plan & Purpose) and Divine Direction, I will like to point out one other major mistake a lot of believers make while pursuing God’s plan and purpose for their lives. It is the mistake of being involved with WRONG ASSOCIATION.
Without a doubt, isolation is a snare (See last week’s epistle), but there is even a greater need to be mindful of the relationships we get involved with.
In my years in Ministry, I have seen several cases of persons with big visions and glorious destinies who either failed or fell short of fulfilling their visions in life because they were victims of the negative influence of keeping wrong associations.
Hosea 4:6 “. . . Just as iron sharpens iron, friends sharpen the minds of each other. . . .” CEV
The scripture above implies that your vision in life should be the determining factor of the kind of friends you keep. In other words, anyone who is not contributing (in any way) to the fulfillment of your God-given vision should NOT be on your friend’s list. Sadly, many people crowd themselves with these kinds of persons and they become Dream-Killers of God’s plans for their lives.
As a matter of fact, whenever you receive a vision from God, the next best step to take is to evaluate your current association to determine who is safe to keep around you. This is more so because your association will either contribute to the fulfillment of your vision or hinder it fulfillment. At this point, I make bold to mention that a genuine pursuit of God’s plan for your life will always cost you some friends, so you need courage to part ways with unproductive friendships and association.
In Acts 15:36-41, Paul considered the association of John Mark detrimental to his vision, so he parted ways with Barnabas who insisted on having an association with a man, who was not fully engaged in the pursuit of that vision. In a matter of time, that Paul soon became a giant in the Kingdom and Barnabas faded away. You have a glorious destiny, therefore avoid Wrong association.
